Hey, remember when we thought this was, like, a fun superhero parody with silly songs and whatnot? And we all laughed and laughed? And then the last five minutes happened?

Remember that?

I DO.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS FOR A SECOND? Because this is my favorite part in the whole movie. Mulan is back to wearing traditionally feminine clothing, and Shan Yu is mocking her “Looks like you’re out of ideas.”

BUT Mulan is all FUCK NO and disarms that asshole with a GODDAMN SYMBOL OF FEMININITY.

NOT TODAY SHAN YU. NOT TODAY.

YOU BROUGHT THIS ON YOURSELF

This got even funnier when I realized that to shoot it, essentially someone had to hurl a massive rat puppet at Cary Elwes.

My favorite thing is that he doesn’t telegraph it at all. He never tenses up, never flinches, just waits for the giant rat puppet being hurled through the air to take him down. Great performance.
